Cameron Parker

Cameron Parker

Marketing and Brand Manager, Black Milk Clothing

Four years ago Black Milk Clothing didn’t exist. Then one day in 2009, James Lillis sold a pair of leggings for $10 that he’d stitched together around his kitchen table. The dream was launched. Two and half years later Black Milk Clothing is a multi-million dollar, 100% Australian-owned business employing 150 people and selling out of everything they make… driven by an unbelievably loyal following of raving fans, 500,000+ of them on Facebook, alone!  Not to mention the 50+ 'meet-up' groups that connect globally, all manned by volunteers who have a shared pasion and love for Black Milk.  Oh, and they’ve done this on a modest marketing budget of ZERO DOLLARS! Yep, nudda. Zip!

So sit back, pull on some shiny leggings and listen up as Cameron Parker (Black Milk’s first employee) shares with us exactly how they've driven and encouraged their customers to post thousands of selfies every day across their entire social media and website using hash tags.  Cameron has over 11 years of Marketing and Advertising experience  working in Australia and the UK.

Lani Pauli

Lani Pauli

Community & Marketing Manager, Yelp Brisbane

As Yelp Brisbane's fulltime flag-waver (aka marketing and community manager), Lani's role revolves around nurturing the Yelp Brisbane community both online and offline. From sniffing out cool events and happenings, to marketing, local businesses owner outreach, organising monthly events, and even writing a Weekly Yelp newsletter about the latest and greatest Brisbane has to offer, Lani spreads the word about what Yelp's all about: connecting people with great local businesses.

Before joining Yelp, Lani worked for PR & Marketing agencies in Brisbane and Sydney and depending on what business card you read she’s lived lives as a publicist, editor of an online opinion website, digital strategist and copywriter and account manager. She is passionate about the intricacies of online behaviour, ‘the self’ represented online and how digital communications shape the way we operate today.

When she’s not Yelping she’s probably hunting for a great cup of coffee (or cocktail) or walking her puppy named Dutch.

Michelle Levings

Michelle Levings

Digital Marketing Consultant, FoxedGlove

Michelle Levings has worked in Brisbane online media since 2005 and has a long history of working with small businesses, hospitality venues and events with tiny marketing budgets but big dreams and plenty of determination. With a background in direct sales Michelle has learnt the hard way how to squeeze every last drop of online and offline exposure for her clients that have a limited time frame and budget. She set up her own modest consultancy at 24 in 2008 and has since won digital marketing awards and worked with venues and brands such as Limes Hotel, Kerbside, Roza's Gourmet Sauces, The Royal Queensland Food and Wine Show, The Garden of Unearthly Delights and the Ekka.

Michelle will take us through:

  • How she creatively engages with fans and followers using different Facebook & Twitter applications.
  • Instagram and user generated content - how she used it in the Ekka 2012 campaign and her results.
  • How to start a community - What she did to grow the Ekka Facebook page from zero fans to 5 thousand in less than 8 weeks, and how she started the Kerbside and Roza's community.
  • How she manages the Ekka Community during show time as they are a passionate bunch!
