Dr Axel Bruns

Associate Professor, Media and Communications, QUT

Dr Axel Bruns is an Associate Professor in the Creative Industries Faculty at Queensland University of Technology in Brisbane, Australia. He is a Chief Investigator in the ARC Centre of Excellence for Creative Industries and Innovation (CCi), author of Blogs, Wikipedia, Second Life and Beyond: From Production to Produsage (2008) and Gatewatching: Collaborative Online News Production (2005), and editor of Uses of Blogs with Joanne Jacobs (2006; all released by Peter Lang, New York).

Bruns’s research interests are in produsage (or collaborative user-led content development), social media, blogging, social network mapping, citizen journalism, online communities, creative industries, and popular music studies. He has published a variety of articles in these fields, many of which can be found on his Website at snurb.info, and at Gatewatching.org and Produsage.org.

Author of 'Learn MYOB in 7 Days' (release June 2010), Heather writes for national online and printed publications such as 'Flying Solo', ninemsn, 'Women’s Day' and newspapers across Australia. She is a commerce graduate, an Ambassador of the ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants), an MYOB Certified Consultant and sits on the ATO BAS Agent Advisory Group. Although Heather is immersed in the world of MYOB, she has always been fascinated by the workings of small business.  This fascination fostered a passion for helping others to achieve their full potential.
