Group Managing Director, Havas Worldwide (which includes responsibility for the multi-award winning Red Agency)

James is a multi-award-winning consultant who has advised some of the world’s biggest brands. Before joining Havas he was a Board Director at international agency Grayling where he led a number of their international accounts, including HSBC, Sony, Jaguar and Land Rover, and also set up and led their pioneering sustainability practice ‘Grayling Future Planet’.

He is responsible for four Havas agencies in Australia: PR agency Red Agency; creative agencies Havas Worldwide Melbourne and Arnold Furnace; and employer branding agency, Havas People. In each of the past three years he has led Havas owned Red Agency to become the most awarded PR team in Australia, which has included winning numerous international awards, including Cannes Lions, Spikes and a D&AD Black Pencil, as well as numerous 'Agency of the Year' accolades. In 2013 he was invited as the sole Australian PR jury member at three prestigious international marketing festivals: CLIOs, Cannes Lions and Cristal Festival.

In 2014 he was named PR Leader of the Year at the Comms Con Awards run by leading marketing trade Mumbrella. In 2008, at the age of just 28, he won the coveted PRCA’s Consultant of the Year (UK) and the same year was named International CSR Leader by PR News USA at their All Stars Awards.

James sits on the Havas PR global leadership committee and is responsible for the companies APAC network, he is also a former National Board Member of the Public Relations Institute of Australia. Current clients include: Origin Energy, Capgemini, United Nations Foundation, WWF Australia and Yahoo!7.

A keen sportsman, James plays cricket and soccer for teams in Sydney's Northern Beaches. He has undertaken numerous international trekking expeditions for charity, including a six day trek in the Himalayas raising over 120,000GBPs for children’s charity ChildLine.

James Fitzgerald is Program Director for Social Media Knowledge (SMK). Previously based in the UK, James possesses a wealth of social media experience, having founded two of the UK’s hottest social media knowledge businesses, The Social Media Academy and Social Media Library (both part of the Firebrand Group of companies).  As SMK Program Director, James is responsible for devising and delivering all blue chip and corporate training programs. Between his work here in Australia, and previously in the UK, James has trained well over a thousand senior marketing and business decision makers on how they can use social media more effectively. James has created programs for, and trained, the likes of Jetstar, McDonalds, NAB, News Magazines, Tourism Australia, Pfizer, Panasonic, Austereo, Nandos, Saatchi and Saatchi, Ogilvy, etc. to name just a few.

James is fortunate to enjoy an unrivalled track record in training, consulting and delivering award winning social media strategies. This comes not only via having initiated the above, but also as a result of having launched award winning UK social media agency, onlinefire, which was acquired in 2009 by current UK PRCA Consultancy of the Year, Eulogy PR! onlinefire was one of the UK’s first pure play social media agencies, founded in 2005. James was responsible for devising and directing social media and online PR strategies for the likes of Panasonic, Virgin Mobile, Post Office, BBC Radio 5 Live, MTV, Wyndham Hotel Group, Comedy Central and Becks Beer. James was renowned for developing creatively engaging social media campaigns, nothing better illustrates this than his 2009 "30 Peas" social media campaign for Virgin Mobile. The campaign was awarded “Best Use Of Digital” at the 2010 CorpComms Awards.

Prior to launching onlinefire James came from a traditional communications background, working with some of the UK’s leading agencies, including: Mandate, immediate future, JCPR, Good Relations PR, Wildfire and Bite Communications.

Selina has been in the social media and digital marketing industry for over 6 years and has worked with non profit organizations and large commercial companies such as Facebook. Recently named as a rising female in the technology sector by the Sydney Morning Herald, Cat is considered an industry leader when it comes to the digital space, with a savvy business mind and a robust understanding of the wider business context.
