Digital Marketing Manager, Tourism Queensland

Sarah has worked in the Queensland tourism industry for a very long time (17 years)! Sarah joined Tourism Queensland in early 2005, and the Digital Marketing team in 2006.  The Digital Marketing team are responsible for promoting Queensland's tourism products and destinations to a global audience via digital platforms.  Key responsibilities of the team include:

  • Ensuring Tourism Queensland’s suite 30 consumer websites, including and our international market websites, are reflective of the Queensland holiday experience and evolve to meet the needs of those interested in holidaying in Queensland.
  • Developing tools and engaging content that maximise exposure for Queensland.  Tourism Queensland achieves this through use of podcasts, User Generated Content, RSS feeds, e-newsletters, e-brochures and activity on YouTube, Twitter and Facebook.

Tourism Queensland (TQ) is a statutory authority of the Queensland Government.  Tourism Queensland is charged with enhancing the development and marketing of Queensland tourism destinations in partnership with Industry, Government and the Community.

Karoline Cumming advocates that solid, consistent branding really does make all the difference for small businesses. A professional graphic designer for over 12 years, she knows only too well that businesses need 'commercially driven' branding – not just pretty pictures.

Karoline left her advertising agency role as Art Director and co-Agency Manager to establish Clear Identity in 2004. Clear Identity is the answer to those who wonder: "How can small businesses get the professional branding and graphic design services they need, when the big guys only seem to focus on the big guys?"

Striking a chord with micro-startups right through to national companies, Karoline's experience covers almost every industry. Passionate about sharing skills and information she enjoys educating clients about the relationship that exists between consistent branding and the subconscious mind of the consumer.

With interests in marketing, branding and sponsorship, David has applied himself in the major events industry with experience creating and managing marketing campaigns and sponsorship relationships for QLD’s largest event – the Royal Queensland Show (Ekka).  David also enjoys working with the next crop of marketing professionals through his tutoring duties at QUT.

With a desire to work and apply his experience in the NFP industry David joined Variety the children’s charity Queensland. Managing Variety Queensland’s strategic marketing communications including the traditional, digital and social media realm, David helps Variety Queensland to help empower special QLD children to live, laugh and learn.

Cat Matson is Brisbane's Chief Digital Officer, overseeing the citywide Digital Brisbane strategy. Under the strategy, Cat is responsible for driving economic growth through digital adoption in the SME sector, strengthening the city's digital start-up ecosystem and facilitating Cyber City initiatives. Recently named as a rising female in the technology sector by the Sydney Morning Herald, Cat is considered an industry leader when it comes to the digital space, with a savvy business mind and a robust understanding of the wider business context.
