Amidst a continually fragmented and evolving media landscape, bloggers have become influential voices and, in some cases, they are mini-celebrities in their own niches.

For brands, it's an opportunity to work with a trusted authority with a clearly defined target audience. This session is about how to tap into the power of bloggers, reach large audiences in short periods of time and create smart "blogger outreach" campaigns.

You'll hear from Michelle Palmer (Managing Director of 360 Immerse), a strong advocate of blogger relations and co-founder of, Natalie Birt (Queensland blogger at Mummy Smiles) and Valerie Khoo (ambassador of the Best Australian Blogs Competition and co-founder of, a business that connects brands with bloggers).

Valerie is the founder and managing director of the Australian Writers’ Centre, the country’s leading centre for writing courses. In 2010, it was a winner at the NSW Telstra Business Awards and it has also been named by Dell as one of the ‘10 most innovative small businesses in Australia’.

But not content with just content, Valerie is also Ambassador of the Best Australian Blogs Competition run by the Australian Writers’ Centre. Last year, this nationwide search clocked up impressive coverage in The Australian, Sky News, metropolitan radio and newspapers around the country, as well as countless mentions on (you guessed it) blogs.

Valerie is also an experienced journalist and small business commentator. With a Bachelor of Economics (majoring in accounting) and a Graduate Diploma in Communication (journalism, public relations), Valerie began her career at PricewaterhouseCoopers before joining a national public relations firm. She has worked at three major publishing houses – ACP Magazines, EMAP and Pacific Magazines - including three years in Singapore.  Her popular Enterprise blog appears in and

Michelle is founder and managing director of PR & Social Media consultancy 360 Immerse Agency, a director of Dansk Photography Studio, and co-founder of successful online women’s magazine,

Founded and has been involved in a number of successful businesses from online publishing to fashion. In 1999 Michelle launched the first Australian young women’s online magazine, which catapulted to #1 position according to Hitwise, then orchestrated a successful sale to an Australian software company.

Her senior Principal role at an international PR firm and diversified marketing services group, Porter Novelli/The Clemenger Group, saw her head up major accounts including Disney, Mattel, Parmalat and Spotlight. So, as co-founder and co-creator of Social Callout, Michelle’s awareness of the world of ever-changing communication is what ignited a passion to help connect brands with new mediums.

Michelle has twice been nominated for Australian Telstra Businesswoman of the Year, the first time aged only 25, held placements on boards for not-for-profit organisations, is on the events committee for The Lighthouse Foundation and was included in the book, The Giving Spirit. She is a successful songwriter & singer contributing lyric and melody to Australian music artists and in 2004 achieved the accolade of the highest selling dance single according to ARIA.
